Paris - second day

The next day, August 27th, we woke up and made our way to the Eiffel Tower. We got lunch at a small deli on the way and ate in the park in front of the structure. We wanted to go up the tower that day but decided not to as the line was extremely long so we just walked around all around it and started to get and idea of the city. We then took the metro to the Arc de Triumphe which was in the center of an extremely busy traffic circle and you had to take a tunnel underground to get to it. It was a lot bigger than I had expected it to be.

The Arc was at the head of the Champs Elysses, which is a busy street full of restaurants with tables on the sidewalks and expensive shopping. We walked this street all the way down to the Place de la Concorde where there are several fountains and an obelisk, again in the middle of a very busy traffic circle. This then took us to the park in front of the Louvre, which we also walked to and saw the pyramid entrance by I.M. Pei. We ate dinner in the park before taking the metro back to the hotel and going to sleep.
